The Corps of Discovery: Lewis & Clark's Great Expedition

Travis Fenn Episode 13

In 1804, the United States embarked on a journey that would not only provide knowledge about a vast unknown territory but also lay the groundwork for its westward expansion. This was the Corps of Discovery Expedition, a monumental expedition launched by President Thomas Jefferson with the goal of exploring the uncharted lands west of the Mississippi River. Tasked with uncovering the mysteries of the vast Louisiana Territory, the expedition’s leaders, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, would face extreme conditions, document an array of unknown species, establish connections with over 50 Native tribes, and pave the way for America's expansion across the continent.
